Joanne is currently studying a Doctorate of Enterprise (EntD) at The University of Huddersfield her research focuses on investigating what is the real impact of ‘live’ enterprise experience in Art & Design education for Undergraduate BA students and Postgraduate MA students. Joanne’s research reflects and represents her professional creative industry experiences. Her background began in theatre set and costume design and evolved into textiles and surface design working in UK and international design studios before joining the University of Huddersfield as a Lecturer in printed textiles. Joanne was then appointed as a Senior Lecturer and Course Leader of the BA (Hons) Surface Design for Fashion and Interiors course and has been actively embedding creative enterprise into the course for nine years. Joanne’s passionate vision for engaging industry partnerships and creating “Real” opportunities within the creative industries of Surface and Textiles for Undergraduate and Postgraduate students is at the hart of her Doctoral research.
